Cost of living support

Financial advice and emotional support on how you can ease the cost of living squeeze.

Social Outreach Service Hub branches out

A new multi-agency initiative to support local people has been launched in Takeley.

The Social Outreach Service Hub has been running for several months as a drop-in event at the Saffron Walden Community Link, held on the last Thursday of each month. This has now been rolled out to the Takeley Old School Community Hub and will be held on the second Thursday of the month.

Several organisations are involved - including Mind in West Essex, Peabody housing association, the Terrence Higgins Trust, Phoenix Futures, Open Road drug and alcohol recovery service, Essex Sexual Health Services, and the Uttlesford Community Safety Partnership - offering cost of living, mental health, housing and addiction services advice and support to residents.

The first session in Takeley was held last week (Thursday). The event was attended by the High Sheriff of Essex, David Hurst, who took the opportunity to surprise Uttlesford District Council's Community Safety Officer, Angi Greneski, with an award in recognition of her contribution to and involvement in the Reaching Rural Communities project. The project has been running since 2022 and brings wellbeing, crime prevention and fire safety advice to rural and farming communities across Uttlesford.

Angi was delighted to receive the award but was keen to acknowledge the support and help from partners, in particular PC Kerry Rowson from Essex Police.
