Takeley and Little Canfield residents urged to have their say on off-airport parking issues
Residents in Takeley and Little Canfield are invited to have their say on proposed options to deal with airport-related parking issues.
Uttlesford District Council is working with the North Essex Parking Partnership, which manages on-street parking for the Highways Authority (Essex County Council), and consultants Parking Matters, in a bid to see if a solution can be found to nuisance parking in the area.
The council is co-ordinating a consultation to seek local feedback on a series of potential options. The options include clearways/red routes on main roads and bus routes and residents parking or controlled zones in residential streets.
Cllr Neil Hargreaves, Portfolio Holder for Finance and the Economy, said: "Although it is not Uttlesford District Council's responsibility to manage on-street parking issues or parking restrictions, we know that off-airport parking is a huge priority for many residents who live in the area.
"This is a long-running and complex set of issues and unfortunately there is no easy solution.
"That is why we are co-ordinating this latest consultation. We want to understand the extent of the problem and to see if there is anything more that can be done to improve the situation for our residents. I would encourage all Takeley and Little Canfield residents to respond to the consultation."
The easiest way to take part in the consultation is online via the council's website, www.uttlesford.gov.uk/takeley-little-canfield-parking-consultation which includes information on the issues and options as well as details on how to comment.
Residents who do not have access to the internet should call the council to request a paper response form, on 01799 510510.
The consultation closes on Friday 14 February.
Please note that issues such as driveway renting, unauthorised off-airport car parks and rogue parking operators are not covered within the consultation. The council has guidance on its website to help residents understand what, if anything, can be done about these issues and how they can report it - see: www.uttlesford.gov.uk/airport-related-car-parking-issues
