Have your say on the future of council housing in Uttlesford

Tenants and leaseholders are invited to have their say on a new strategy for managing the council's housing.

Uttlesford District Council is developing a new Housing Asset Management Strategy that will guide how the authority will be investing in and maintaining council homes for the next 30 years.

Homes that the council looks after need ongoing care and investment. Some need new kitchens and bathrooms, others require better insulation, and all need regular maintenance to keep them safe and comfortable.

The new strategy will set out how the council proposes to:

  • maintain and improve existing council homes
  • ensure all homes meet safety standards
  • make homes more energy efficient
  • enhance communal areas and estates
  • balance different priorities with the money available

The easiest way to complete the consultation is online: www.uttlesford.gov.uk/housing-strategy-survey

For residents who do not have access to the internet, paper copies are available by calling 01799 510510.

The consultation closes on Wednesday 30 April.

For anyone who wants to find out more, there will be a public engagement event at  2pm on Thursday 10 April. The event will be held in the Council Chamber at the Uttlesford District Council Offices, London Road, Saffron Walden.

All the comments received will be looked at as part of the development of the strategy. There will be a further consultation on a draft strategy before it is considered for approval by Cabinet later in the year.
