"Wonders" Exhibition & Big Birthday Bash - celebrating 190 years of Saffron Walden Museum

Mark your calendars for an unforgettable day! On Saturday 10 May, the Saffron Walden Museum is throwing a spectacular celebration to honour its 190th birthday - can you believe it first opened its doors on 12 May 1835?

We're also celebrating a remarkable milestone: the 50th anniversary of the partnership between the Saffron Walden Museum Society Limited (Charity) and Uttlesford District Council, which began on 1 April 1975.

Both of these milestones will be marked with an opening ceremony for the museum's new exhibition, called "Wonders": 190 Years of Saffron Walden Museum, with Lorna Rolfe, Deputy Lieutenant of Essex, on Saturday 10 May, at 10.30am.

From 11am to 4pm, the museum and new "Wonders" exhibition will be open free admission, showcasing the very best of the museum's diverse and unique collections, curated by voices from the community, past and present, including staff, volunteers, schools from throughout the district and local organisations.

Enjoy the party atmosphere with lively music, captivating heritage craft demonstrations and delicious refreshments in the museum and castle grounds. It's an event not to be missed.
