From the Government

Staying alert and safe (social distancing) after 4 July - the government has issued some advice on what you can and cannot do after lockdown eases on 4 July.

Working safely during coronavirus - the government, in consultation with industry, has produced some workplace safety guidance for businesses that are now allowed to open:

Businesses that can open from 4 July - the government has issued new guidance on which businesses can open from 4 July.

Test and trace - new guidance means those who have been in close contact with someone who tests positive must isolate for 14 days, even if they have no symptoms.

From Essex County Council

Essex local outbreak control plan - Essex County Council have issued a draft plan for local outbreaks of COVID-19 in the Essex County Council area. The plan outlines details of the local response and how it will work with regional and national systems for COVID-19 control.

Libraries - Essex County Council has announced that Great Dunmow Library will be opening from Monday 6 July. Stansted Mountfitchet and Saffron Walden will follow and be open from Monday 13 July. Thaxted Library, though, will be kept under review for possible opening at a later date. 

Free business support from Essex County Council - get free advice and support for your business to help it grow during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

Registrars - from Monday 15 June, 15 registrars in Essex will be available to register a birth only. A registrar will be at Dunmow Library but you must book an appointment before your visit. There will be no registrar service available from the Uttlesford District Council offices in Saffron Walden.      

Waste and recycling sites (the dump): 15 recycling centres, including the one at Thaxted Road in Saffron Walden, are due to open on Monday 18 May for waste or recycling which cannot be stored at home without causing a health or safety risk. The Saffron Walden site will be open from 9am to 5pm every day.

From Uttlesford District Council

Business Growth Grant - we're promoting the South East Business Boost's Growth Grant scheme which is open for applications from Monday 15 June.

Local Authority Discretionary Grant Fund - apply for a top up grant for businesses that have been affected by the coronavirus situation and are not eligible for other grants.

Weekend skip service - the garden waste weekend skip service resumed on Saturday 30 May.
