Parliamentary General Election - North West Essex constituency - Thursday 4 July 2024

The general election has been called for Thursday 4 July and polling will take place across the district.

Polling stations

The station you vote at will be shown on your poll card when delivered, however you can check your allocated polling station below using your postcode.

Parliamentary boundary changes

Not all Uttlesford electors will vote for this new constituency due to parliamentary constituencies boundary changes.

The remaining parts of the district comprise the former Saffron Walden constituency and take in polling from outlying parts of Chelmsford City Council.

Election timetable

The election process will commence from the publication of the Notice of Election on Tuesday 4 June 2024.

Nomination papers can be submitted from Wednesday 5 June between 10am and 4pm - up to the legal deadline at 4pm on Friday 7 June
An appointment must be made - contact or call the Elections Manager on 01799 510434 to arrange.

How to vote

Everything you need to know about how to vote in person and and how to apply for a postal or proxy vote if you can't get to your polling station on the day of an election.


Key dates

Poll cards
Poll cards will be sent to all registered electors - date to be confirmed. If you have not had a poll card by Friday 14 June, please contact us.

Nomination period
Nomination papers must be submitted in person to the Acting Returning Officer between Wednesday 5 and Friday 7 June between the hours of 10.00 and 16.00.  An appointment must be made - see details of how to arrange an appointment under Election Timetable above

Register to vote deadline for new applications - Tuesday 18 June (midnight).
If you do not have access to the internet you should contact the council ASAP on 01799 510510

Postal vote application deadline (for new applications or changes to existing absent voting arrangements) - 5pm on Wednesday 19 June.

Postal vote packs - will be posted around Tuesday 18 June
If you pack is lost in the post the first day we can arrange a replacement is Friday 28 June. If you damage part of your pack please contact us.

Proxy voting application deadline (for new applications) - 5pm on Wednesday 26 June

Voter Authority Certificate deadline -5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024.
If you do not have suitable photographic voter identity to show at a polling station you can apply for a certificate
