Saffron Walden recycling centre

The Saffron Walden recycling centre is the local recycling centre (tip) for your household items. You can find it at:

Visiting the recycling centre

You will usually need to book a time slot to visit the Saffron Walden recycling centre.

If you need assistance unloading you can ask staff at the centre to help.
 

Exemptions

You do not need to book a slot to visit a recycling centre in Essex if you are a:

  • pedestrian
  • cyclist
  • Blue Badge holder

You'll need to take proof of residency and your Blue Badge with you when visiting these sites.  The Blue Badge holder will need to be present during the visit. 


Booking for cars and small vehicles

Most vehicles need to book a slot to visit any Essex County Council recycling centre on the Love Essex website.

You are able to book up to a month in advance. 

Don't worry if you arrive a little early or late - if you have a booking the staff will let you on site to unload as soon a space allows.
 

Booking for vans pick-up or trailers

You need to book a slot in advance to visit an Essex recycling centre in a van, pick-up or a vehicle towing a trailer with more than one axle on the Love Essex website.

You are able to book up to 2 weeks in advance.

Opening hours

16 October to end of February - 9am to 4pm every day

1 March to 15 October -  9am to 5pm every day

Closed

Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve the centre is closed from 1pm

Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day the centre is closed all day

You can take some hazardous waste, but not asbestos, to an Essex household waste recycling centre where it will de disposed of safely.
