Emergency Plan

The council has issued a new emergency plan that sets out how it will act in the event of an emergency.

The council is designated as a Cat 1 by the CCA. This imposes legal duties upon the council in connection with emergency planning and business continuity management. This overarching plan details the way in which the emergency management structure operates within the council and specifies functions for services and officers to provide a pre-planned flexible procedure to respond in an effective manner to any emergency situation.

 The aim of this plan is to detail the council's management and response arrangements to an emergency.

Objectives of the plan

  • To define the roles and responsibilities of emergency services and partner agencies in the event of an emergency;
  • To set out the management structures that will operate during an emergency;
  • To set out the roles and responsibilities of council officers that may be involved in responding to an emergency.
