Enforcement Agents

From the 6th April 2014 new regulations have been put in place to unify all bailiffs under one scheme/practice.

Bailiffs are now called Enforcement Agents and are all operating under the same Enforcement Fee scheme.

If your debt is passed to an Enforcement Agent for collection, the Council will no longer be in a position to come to a payment plan with you; all arrangements will need to be made with them directly and you will have to pay them not Uttlesford District Council.

Enforcement Agent Fees

If your debt has been passed to an Enforcement Agent you will be subject to the following fees:

Compliance stage - if the debt is passed to an Enforcement Agency there will be an initial, non-negotiable, fee of £75.00
Enforcement Stage - if you fail to respond to the Enforcement Agents phone calls and letters this is the next stage where they will visit your address, which will incur a fee of £235.00. There will be 7.5% added onto debts over £1500.00
Sale Stage - if you fail to pay or come to an arrangement they will take control of your goods, which will incur a fee of £110.00 (again 7.5% will be added on debts over £1500.00) and any other costs they may have reasonably accrued.
