Safeguarding children

Information for anyone who is concerned that a child or young person may be at risk of abuse or neglect.

Section 11 of the Children Act (2004), Places a duty to make "arrangements to safeguard and promote welfare" on a range of agencies, including District Council's.  This includes making arrangements to ensure that all council functions are discharged having regard to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young children.

If you are concerned that a child or young person is being harmed or neglected or is at risk you can find information on how to report it on the Essex Safeguarding Children Board (ESCB) site.
