We all have a part to play in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults in the district.
We take our safeguarding responsibilities very seriously and whilst we do not have a statutory responsibility for child protection (this is the responsibility of Essex County Council) we must help to keep children safe and well in our district. We follow the Southend, Essex and Thurrock (SET) Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures and the Safeguarding Adults guidelines.
All children, young people and vulnerable adults have the right to to be safe using the services provided for them regardless of age, race, disability, sexual orientation, culture or gender. This includes a right to be protected from any form of abuse.
