Apprenticeships at Uttlesford
From time to time we are able to offer apprenticeships in a number of our services.
We are often looking for people who want to work at a particular job but maybe don't have the experience or qualifications. An apprenticeship is a training programme that combines on the job training and learning to help you to get started in your chosen career.
What is an apprenticeship
An apprenticeship will combine practical training in a job with study and can last anything from one to five years.
As an apprentice you will:
- Work alongside experienced staff
- Gain job-specific skills
- Earn a wage and get holiday pay
- Get time for study related to your role (usually one day a week)
Any training and experience you get will be specific to the job that you will be doing, this will help you towards your chosen career. You need to think about the type of work you are likely to enjoy and be committed to before you apply.
As an apprentice we will pay you at least the Apprentice National Minimum Wage. The current minimum wage rate for an apprentice is £4.30 per hour.
Who can apply
You can apply for an apprenticeship while you're still at school. To start one, you'll need to:
- Be 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays
- Be living in England
- Not be in full-time education
- Able to meet any entry requirements and to undertake the studying and coursework required
