Council launches new initiative to inspire residents to start their own business

Uttlesford District Council is launching a new campaign, Start-up September, as part of its commitment to supporting residents and the local economy.

The council has partnered with industry experts, including the award-winning Rebel Business School, to offer a month of training, business coaching and webinars. A new business start-up grant will also be made available.

The month will start with the Rebel Business School's two-week live online course which offers lots of practical ways to build your confidence and get your business off the ground in a debt-free way.

Eight hours of 1:1 and group business coaching sessions with The Consortium will be available for residents who have started thinking about a business idea and for those who have recently started a business.

Cllr Neil Hargreaves, Portfolio for Finance and the Economy, said: "We have a thriving business community in Uttlesford, made up of innovative micro businesses, and this campaign is aimed at inspiring budding entrepreneurs.

"Uttlesford has been named as the best district in the UK for women to start a business and we are keen to help support and develop their plans, so one of our business coaching programmes is for a female only group."

All courses and activities are fully funded by the council for Uttlesford residents.
