Uttlesford Business Awards open for entries

The Uttlesford Business Awards 2024 are now open for entries - and everyone is invited to nominate a business or individual who they feel deserves to be noticed for their innovation and excellence.

This is the second time Uttlesford District Council has held the awards. Last year's event was a great success with some brilliant nominations and entries.

The awards are free to enter and there are 12 categories up for grabs with a range of prizes for the winners.

Cllr Neil Hargreaves, Portfolio Holder for Finance and the Economy, said: "We're excited to once again be running these awards to recognise and celebrate the achievements of businesses in the district. Local businesses are vital to our communities and economy, and they play a huge role in making Uttlesford the great place that it is.

"If you know of a business or individual who you think deserves to be recognised, please do enter them into the awards. I look forward to seeing the nominations. Good luck to all the applicants!"

For more information about the awards including criteria for each of the categories and the entry form, visit: https://business.uttlesford.gov.uk/awards.

Entries close at midnight on 14 January 2024 and shortlisted entries will be announced on 31 January. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the end of February.

Testimonials from some of last year's winners

Retailer of the Year

Jack Etherington - DEAD Time Beers in Saffron Walden

"Winning the award really helped put the word out that we exist. It brought us new customers and acclaim that we could shout about on social media.

"My advice to other businesses when entering the awards would be to continue to do the great work that you know you do, but also try to elevate your customer service and product knowledge about what you sell - every day is a school day!"

Reduction of single use plastic

Kathryn Starr - Gifted in Thaxted

"It gave us a really nice boost to win an Uttlesford Business Award and feel recognised for our efforts. I think there is nothing to lose in entering the awards, as even if you don't win there is exposure in being nominated and taking part."

Online Business

Harrison Cantel - H Creative, Saffron Walden

"As my first ever business award, the Uttlesford Business Award will always have a very special place in my heart. Winning the award has definitely opened up some new and exciting doors for me, especially locally. I hope I can add a few more to my office shelf at some point."

Uttlesford Rising Star

Tom Cannon - Cannon Architectural Design Ltd, Thaxted

"I was very pleased to have won the award. I would advise any local business, no matter what industry, to participate as it's a great way to receive recognition for your hard work and efforts. It's also a fantastic way to market your services."
