Housing Ombudsman Complaint Handling Code: statement by the Member Responsible for Complaints

Our statement by the Member Responsible for Complaints (MRC) on our annual self assessment of the Housing Ombudsman Complaint Handling Code.

As Uttlesford District Council's Member Responsible for Complaints (MRC) and Cabinet Housing Lead, I confirm that I have properly reviewed and gained assurance on the outcome of the council's self-assessment of complaints handling against the requirements set out by the Housing Ombudsman in their Complaints Handling Code.  In discussion with officers, I have reviewed and gained assurance on the Complaints Improvement Plan which is in development to address any areas where the council is currently non-compliant.  I am satisfied that appropriate actions are being put in place to address these.

I can also confirm that the Tenant and Leaseholder Panel have been properly consulted and have had the opportunity to challenge officers on their determination in relation to the council's compliance with the code.  The outcome of the self-assessment against the code has also been fully scrutinised and challenged by the cross-party Housing Board of which I am Chair.
