Buildings at risk

Find out about listed buildings that are in a serious state of decay and dereliction in the district and report a building if you are concerned about its condition.

Listed buildings are of historic and architectural importance and part of the nation's unique heritage. As part of our policy to protect and enhance the heritage assets of the district we keep a register of listed buildings which we consider to be at risk.

The objective of the register is to highlight the plight of these buildings and initiate action towards securing their long-term conservation.

Criteria

A building is at risk if it is in a serious state of:

  • vacancy
  • under-use
  • neglect
  • structural disrepair

Buildings at risk are assessed by using a check list of criteria produced by Historic England determined by the condition of a building and whether it is occupied.

Find if a building is at risk

Our buildings at risk register contains details of buildings in Uttlesford known to be 'at risk' through neglect and decay, or vulnerable to becoming so.  The register includes the address of the property and the condition of the building.

This register also incorporates a list of heritage sites at risk in the district, as identified by Historic England.
