Parish and village plans

Parish and village plans can help to determines the future of your community, and how it can change for the better.

Each plan aims to provide an assessment of local services and facilities, their strengths, weaknesses and future community needs. It results in an 'Action Plan' outlining projects to tackle the issues identified: timescale, costs and organisations involved.

What is a parish plan?

Purpose

To assess current and future potential issues and set out an action plan to tackle the issues.

Status

A parish or village plan provides a business plan for the community, adopted by the parish council to take forward in partnership with other organisations.

The document

It will provide a description of the services and facilities and their strengths and weaknesses. The document also provides views and opinions on all matters affecting quality of life and aspirations for the future.
It results in an action plan outlining projects, timescale, costs and organisations involved.

The parish plan process

The plan is researched and put together by the local community and may include:

A Village Appraisal - a household questionnaire to assess needs and aspirations of local people
Participatory Appraisals - hands-on interactive workshops
Business Surveys
Creation of an Action Plan
